Spirit Entertainment have announced a deal with the Criterion Collection to distribute region B blu-ray and 4K films in the UK.

The London-based company has replaced Sony Picture Home Entertainment as the distributor of choice for the boutique physical media label.

The first title to be released in the UK from Criterion via Spirit will be Martin Scorsese’s After Hours in both blu-ray and 4K editions on October 9.

The 4K will RRP at £29.99. The blu-ray will be £22.99.

Also coming on October 23 is the Todd Browning boxset of Freaks, The Unknown and The Mystic. That will cost £39.99.

Criterion finally expanding their 4K releases to the UK opens up a world of possibilities on what to expect from the label in the future — although it is thought that the recently announced Mean Streets 4K will not making it over the pond and will instead be distributed by a different label.
